Cast Your Vote In Sanrio’s Annual Character Ranking Contest

Sanrio’s annal character ranking contest is officially underway. For 40 years, the iconic Japanese company has been letting fans cast their votes for their favorite characters. The lineup includes longtime faves like Hello Kitty, Cinnamoroll, and Kuromi, but with 90 adorable characters in the running now’s a great chance to rediscover old favorites or learn more about new ones!
From April 10 to May 25, 2025 fans from across the globe can vote daily for their favorite Sanrio character. Last year, Cinnamoroll charmed his way to the top once again, claiming first place for the fifth time in a row. But with so many adorable contenders and a global wave of fresh votes pouring in this year, anything could happen. You can cast your vote at ranking.sanrio.com or in person at all Sanrio stores, Sanrio cafes, and select Hot Topic stores. When you cast your vote in person you’ll receive an “I voted” sticker while supplies last.
As part of the 40th anniversary festivities, Sanrio is adding some extra fun to the contest with a grand prize: a trip for two to Japan to attend the final results announcement at Sanrio FES 2025! The company has also announced a couple of brand-new awards this year. The "Jump-Up! Award" will spotlight characters who make impressive climbs in the rankings, while the "40th Anniversary Award" will be handed to the character that lands in the symbolic 40th place. Fans can also boost their favorite's chances by joining in on online games, which offer bonus voting tickets as a fun little reward.
Since its debut back in 1986, the Sanrio Character Ranking has grown into a beloved tradition, uniting fans of all ages in a celebration of cuteness, nostalgia, and a little friendly competition. Will Cinnamoroll keep his crown, or is it finally time for another fan favorite to shine?
